The Old Cheddar Cheese Company is located on Glendon Road, Ludlow (between Busselton and Capel) open from 10.00am to 4.00pm daily. They offer free tastings of their unique Creamy Cheddar cheese as well as serving coffee, cakes and light lunches in their café.
Margaret River Cereals and Nuts is a great place to stop with the kids to they can stretch their legs and have fun at the playground. They have a huge selection of flavoured and coated nuts, many varieties of biscuits, jams, marmalades, chutneys, pickles and sauces as well as Gaby’s Muesli. They are located on Harmans Mill Road, Metricup and it is a short drive from there to the Margaret River Chocolate Company.
Margaret River Chocolate Company has grown to be a “must see” destination when you’re in the South West. They have a large selection of handmade truffles, chocolate sauces, gift hampers, chocolate scented body products and much more. There is also a café serving milkshakes, cakes, hot drinks and light lunches.
Bettenay’s Margaret River Nougat Company has been hand crafting gold medal winning nougat for many years. They have seventeen varieties of creamy, chewy nougat to be enjoyed on their premises at the corner of Tom Cullity Drive and Miamum Road between 10.00am and 5.00pm daily.
Margaret River Dairy Company is located on Bussell Highway, approximately four kilometres north of Cowaramup. Due to a fire in one of their manufacturing facilities in late 2012 they are not currently able to produce their range of yoghurt, feta and ricotta. But their delicious cheddar, camembert and brie cheeses are available to taste and purchase between 9.30am and 5.00pm daily.
The Candy Cow is a candy lover’s dream! The shelves are lined with candy, nougat, honeycrunch and fudge (you can even choose a flavour or two to try before you buy). See them on the corner of Bottrill Street and Bussell Highway in Cowaramup between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Be there at 11.00am to watch the Honeycrunch pour on weekends and during holidays.
Margaret River Venison grew from reading a book on deer farming in 1977 and getting the idea to diversify the traditional farm. Call into the farm shop, approximately 12 kilometres north of Margaret River on Caves Road, between 9.00am and 4.30pm to see their range of cuts, sausages and small goods.
Vasse Virgin owners first began using olive oils while creating soaps and bath products that would not affect their children’s skin allergies. Now with as much emphasis on food as on natural, chemical free body products, you can visit their factory to see their selection of olive oil, dressings, dukkah, pesto, marinated olives, mustards and pasta. They are open from 10.00am to 5.00pm daily on Puzey Road, Willyabrup.
Gabriel Chocolate is a truly decadent experience where you can sample the produce of Western Australia’s first “bean to bar” chocolate makers. Enjoy their home-made ice cream and hot chocolate at their café from 10.00am to 5.00pm daily at the corner of Caves and Quininup Roads.
