How will you celebrate this WA Day (June Long Weekend)? How about with a stay at Mandalay!
A public holiday just for us! This June Long Weekend it’s time to celebrate WA. Western Australia Day (formerly Foundation Day), is all about celebrating our history and the diverse range of cultures that form Western Australia as we know it today.
Known as Foundation Day until 2012, the 1st of June 1829 was the day the first European free settlers arrived at the Swan River Colony after their long sea voyage on the ship, Parmelia, captained by James Stirling.
The government changed the name to Western Australia Day to make the day more inclusive and more of a celebration of being a West Aussie.
