What a HUGE weekend Busselton has coming up! The Jetty Swim, Jets Half Marathon, Criterium, Treasure Hunt, Sandcastle Building, Stand-Up Paddle Board Race and family friendly beach games….
The Jetty Swim will be on the morning of Sunday the 9th of February. The 3.6 kilometre swim around the iconic Busselton Jetty will be tackled by individuals, pairs and teams of four. There is a “Wave Start” for the race with first wave of swimmers plunging into the ocean at 8am with two minute intervals between each wave.
The Jets Half Marathon and Community Fun Run & Walk will step off at 7.30am on Saturday the 8th of February. Competitors can choose from a 10 kilometre run, 5 kilometre run, 5 kilometre walk or the 21.1 kilometre long half marathon. The half marathon is an Athletics Australia Certified Accurate course. There is also a Kids Fun Run starting at 10.30am. The run/walk will take all participants on a path along Busselton’s beautiful coastline.
The City of Busselton Criterium will see big names in Western Australian cycling as well as the top locals racing against the clock. There are several different categories with races starting at 1.00pm on Saturday the 8th of February.
There are great spectator spots for all of these events whether you like the swimming, running or cycling. And don’t forget about all of the fantastic family events that will be taking place at the beachfront. From 8.20am on Sunday the 9th of February the SunSmart Beach Classic Games are on! The fun will start with a Treasure Hunt then prepare to get dirty with the Sandcastle Competition. From 10.00am the Classic Beach Races begin with Egg and Spoon, Three Legged and Sack Races as well as a Tug-of-War.
