With the best of the best flying in from around the world the 2013 SunSmart Ironman Western Australia Busselton Triathlon is set to be one to remember. Whether you have already booked your spot at the starting line, are ready to cheer on the competitors or you’d like to lend a hand as volunteer mark Sunday the 8th of December in your diary and get down to Busselton for all the action.
The annual SunSmart Ironman Western Australia triathlon is once again taking place in Busselton! With our town boasting a suitably flat terrain for running and cycling, this race is renowned worldwide to competitors for being the number one place to achieve a personal best time.
On the 8th of December, athletes from all over the world will be competing in the triathlon, beginning with a 3.8km ocean water swim around the famous Busselton Jetty. The 180km cycle leg is a three-loop course that starts and ends at Signal Park, taking competitors along the picturesque Tuart Drive tourist route. The final 42.2km four-loop run course is fast, flat and especially spectator friendly for those wishing to cheer on the champions. With constant ocean views it makes for a spectacular finish to the race.
The SunSmart Ironman triathlon in WA is now a steadfast in the Asia Pacific triathlon scene and we’re excited to be hosting it in our region! 2013 is the 10th anniversary of the Busselton event which has continually attracted an elite field of competitors.
