It’s great to see our guests joining in on Mandalay’s summer activities with enthusiasm and good spirit! Thursday night saw 160 entrants partake in the fishing competition at Geographe Bay beach just across the road from the park. The bait freezer at Reception was nearly emptied as our fisher-men, women and kids prepared to put their best foot forward and catch a winner.
Around 300 people flocked to the beach, where our participants reeled in whiting, herring, flathead, blowfish, trumpeter and even a flounder- winning Cailey a rod and reel for ‘Most Unusual Catch’! Other winners included Paul for ‘Biggest Catch’ with a 60cm blowie and Daniel with ‘First Catch’ for bringing the first fish onto the beach.
Overall, the fishing competition was a triumph and we gave away some great prizes! We’d like to say a big thank you to Compleat Angler & Camping World in Rockingham for their sponsorship and Jim and Karen Hailstone for organising the prizes and the event. Finally, thank you to all our helpers and contenders for making it a successful competition!
