It has been a busy couple of weeks here at Mandalay! Last week saw the first quiz night and Busselton Shire Brass Band visit of the season and also the annual Rake Cup cricket.
The Busselton Jetty Re-opening

This weekend sees the opening of our iconic Busselton Jetty after being closed for restoration for nearly two years. Our jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and serves as a key tourist attraction to the magnificent southwest.

It has been an interesting few days here at Mandalay. Friday and Saturday saw the end of the school holidays and a mass exodus of kids, cars, caravans, bikes, boats, scooters, jet skis… the list could go on.
Mandalay Family Fishing Competition 2011

On Thursday January 20th the beach in front of Mandalay experienced one of the largest turnouts for the annual Mandalay Family Fishing Competition. With over 170 registered fishermen and women, the fish had nowhere to hide and there was hardly room on the beach for our budding fishermen to cast their lines.
Mandalay Twilight Gourmet Market Success

Local produce, food, wine, crafts and attractions were on show at Mandalay Holiday Resort for a Twilight Gourmet Market on the oval of our resort.

After a festive Christmas, the guests at Mandalay experienced a night of dancing, games and fun at our annual New Years Eve party. Four hundred of our guests set up their tables and chairs on the oval overlooking our games rooms, decked out with coloured lights, streamers and balloons. They enjoyed music by DJ Pete, who kept them all entertained with his games and prizes.

On the first day of Christmas Mandalay gave to me a great holiday with my family. On the second day of Christmas Mandalay gave to me two swimming pools, and a great holiday with my family.

Busselton Ironman WA Huge Success

Busselton hosted the Ironman WA on Sunday 5th Dec with 1300 competitors swimming 3.8 klm around the Jetty, a 180 klm bike ride and a 42 klm run. Mandalay's Scott Wilson competed for the first time and finished with a very ceditable time of 10 hours 26 minutes.
