Busselton hosted the Ironman WA on Sunday 5th Dec with 1300 competitors swimming 3.8 klm around the Jetty, a 180 klm bike ride and a 42 klm run. Mandalay's Scott Wilson competed for the first time and finished with a very ceditable time of 10 hours 26 minutes.
Perfect weather and calm water greeted the large contingent of international and Australian athletes for a 5.30 am start for the 3.8 klm swim around the Busselton Jetty followed by a 180 klm bike ride through the town centre and out in the Tuart forest. The ride was followed by a 42 klm run along the Busselton beachfront finishing in the town centre.
