A weekend away in Busselton ...

Here are some things for you to do and see. First stop Busselton!

Enjoy a gourmet breakfast and coffee at More Café or Samovar on Kent Street.

Visit the Busselton foreshore and stroll the lengths of the newly restored Busselton Jetty. Measured at 1.84km, it is the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere and today is one of Australia's most unique eco-tourism sites. If you’re not up for the walk, the Busselton Jetty train has re-opened and will take you out to the end and back.

At the end of the Jetty visit the Underwater Observatory and be amazed at the remarkable marine life below the surface. Bookings for the Observatory are recommended. You can visit the Interpretive Centre where you can view the Cultural Heritage Museum or browse the unique range of gifts and souvenirs.  Entry to the Interpretive Centre is free of charge.

If you’re feeling a bit peckish stop for a coffee or some lunch at the Goose Café and enjoy the water front view from your table.

Back in the car, take a drive along Marine Terrace, down to Layman Road where you will find yourself at Port Geographe.  If you are in need of a cool refreshment call in at The Deck for a drink overlooking the waters of the Port Geographe Marina.

Continue down Layman Road to the historic Wonnerup House (open Wednesday to Sunday). Wander through the majestic grounds, homestead and the old school house or take a walk along the possum trail. From here you are a minute’s drive away from the only remaining Tuart Forest in the world.

Head back into Busselton and walk the Heritage Trail that starts near the Busselton Visitor Centre.

Browse through the Old Butter Factory Museum (open Wednesday to Sunday) on the grassed banks of the Vasse River and playgrounds, a great place to have a picnic or just relax and enjoy the views.

If you still have some energy, take the Busselton Bypass down towards Vasse Newtown, take a right at Fairway Drive if you would like to try your hand at a round of golf at the Par 3 or continue to the end of the Bypass and turn right.

Stop in for some fun at the Busselton Archery Park or across the road is Occy’s Brewery for a more relaxing afternoon with a cold refreshment.

Next time we will visit Dunsborough and Yallingup.
