The race that stops the nation!

Clive, Margaret, John and staff hosted another successful Melbourne Cup Luncheon on Tuesday 1st November with approximately 120 guests who were staying at Mandalay.

This year’s dress theme was Glamour Stakes: get glammed up for a day at the races…Look dapper in a suit… Fascinate in a fascinator… and dress to impress! Everyone arrived looking very glamorous, with some men donning their suits and the ladies looking most splendid in their frocks and fascinators. Honourable mention must go to all the ladies that got crafty and made their fascinators for the day.

The entertainment for the day began with a mix and match games, where guests were to check for a card on the bottom of their seat, and then find their match somewhere in the games-room. Punters could also invest $2.00 to receive $100.00 of play money upon arrival, which was then used to bet on some novelty races on the day.

Congratulations to all who cleaned up on the sweeps this year! The door prize of a week’s accommodation at Mandalay was won by Ken Newman.

Next year’s event will be held Tuesday 6th November 2012 with the theme “Birds of a Feather”, so get tizzed up in your feather boa, put a feather in your hat, or even come dressed as Ozzy Ostrich if you like!!
