Spring has sprung! Why not use Mandalay as your base for visiting the three W’s!
The October school holidays and their beautiful spring weather are nearly upon us. There is so much to see and do in Busselton and surrounding areas during spring, why not come for a visit and a much deserved break at Mandalay! I suppose you are wondering what the three W’s are….
Whales
Each year the Southern Right and Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to breed in Australian waters. Witness the behaviour of these migrating beasts of the ocean in the pristine bays of the spectacular south-west of Western Australia.
Viewing off Dunsborough starts in September and goes until early December. An experience not to be missed! There are plenty of great look out points along the coastline or you can get up really close on a whale watching tour, which you can book through our reception.
Wildflowers
Come and witness the explosion of colour during the wildflower season. Relax in the tranquillity of nature by taking a bush-walk or a drive through the forests of the South West. The areas surrounding Busselton are renowned for being one of the world's most biodiverse floral regions, with many species occurring nowhere else in the world.
Set against the stunning natural scenery of the South West region, the wildflowers form a carpet of colour that has to be seen to be believed. And yet each intricate flower is just as beautiful when viewed close up. Hundreds of Orchid species can be found throughout the forests surrounding Busselton, many only a short drive from Mandalay. Spring is the time to see the wildflowers at their dazzling best, but different species can be found throughout the year.
Wine
Of course wine would feature, as Mandalay is within the Geographe Wine Region and only a stone’s throw from the Margaret River Wine region. A variety of wine styles and blends are produced here, from complex cool-climate cabernets to elegant dry chardonnays. A great way to explore the many wineries is to book a winery tour with one of the many tour companies in the area. Many companies will pick you up from Mandalay, show you the region whilst enjoying tastings and a delicious lunch and then drop you off when you have had your fill.
Many wineries are hosting events during October for all that enjoy a good drop, from the wine buff to the weekend taster. Visit the Geographe Bay Visitor Centre website for more information.
We still have site and accommodation vacancies for the October school holidays so why not give our reception a call and book your stay today!
